Company Overview
American Aerogel Corporation uses proprietary technology to produce open-cell nano and micro-porous foam materials with physical properties such as: low thermal conductivities, high surface areas, adjustable porosities and high mechanical strength to weight ratios. These materials are currently used as cores for vacuum insulation panels for thermal insulation applications, with R-Values up to 50 per inch. Additional fields of use include acoustic attenuation, chemical reaction substrates and filters, electrical storage devices and mechanical energy absorption. Since 1999 the Company has been conducting research and development aimed at making these materials cost effective to produce. American Aerogel is a venture funded and highly entrepreneurial company.
