Description

Summary:

Provide product safety engineering analysis and coordinate approval of product design compliance for semiconductor equipment manufacturer in the United states. 

Education Required:                                                                                                                                                                          

  • Bachelors Engineering Degree - Electrical Engineering (EE) , or Mechanical Engineering (ME), or Chemical Engineering (CE)
  • 3+ years’ experience working with of semiconductor industry and industrial equipment
  • Additional / Desirable:
  • Engineering Cross-Discipline experienced preferred
  • Graduate of product safety compliance program (CMSE® Certified Machinery Safety Expert)
  • 6+ years’ experience in product safety engineering compliance within the semiconductor industry (SEMI S2, Machinery Regulation)

Job Description:

This person will be responsible for ownership of product safety compliance for the ASM Vertical Furnace business unit in Almere, Netherlands. This person will facilitate hazard analysis and the related risk assessments for new products and review upgrades and retrofits to existing products for safety compliance.  This person will coordinate the 3rd party assessments of the equipment to comply with SEMI safety standards as well as the European regulations, and provide guidance on design practices necessary to comply with these standards.  This person will act as member of ASM’s Global Product Safety Technology team and work together with other ASM Product Safety leaders to maintain global equipment design guidelines (for safety compliance).  This person will be contribute to product design related Safety Incident Reports (SIR’s) investigations, including root cause analysis.  This person will provide support and ownership of customer equipment safety related questions and issues.



Requirements

Skills Required:

Minimum:

  • Ability to lead and coordinate diverse stakeholder engagement from business unit engineers, managers and  external customers
  • Strong Project Management skills – ability to execute and drive projects to closure
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of new European Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230, and previous Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC)
  • Knowledge of European EMC Directive (2014/30/EU)
  • Ability to effectively manage customer safety inquiries and issues

Additional / Desirable:

  • Dual language communication skills (both Dutch and English preferred)
  • Knowledge of key SEMI Safety Guidelines (SEMI S2, SEMI S8, SEMI S22) and have the ability to interpret and apply these to equipment design requirements
  • Experience in estimating the risk of harm (per SEMI S10/SEMI S14) based on each hazard identified
  • Experience in providing Product Safety training sessions to design engineers
  • Experience in leading engineering design review sessions using FMEA, HAZOP, “What-If” or other hazard identification methods of new modules and subsystems
